Rainy Brooks
“Bio”
Artist Rainy Brooks spent her childhood in Maine surrounded by the natural beauty of lakes, mountains, and the seashore. Her passion for art started at an early age as she always loved the solitude of drawing, coloring or painting. Although she had no formal art classes in the small high school she attended, she eventually had the opportunity to study oil painting with a professional artist. During this time she fell in love with the medium of oils and began to expand her vision and style of painting. Over the past twenty years she has had the opportunity to develop and hone her creative skills through a variety of techniques on the canvas.
While most of her art career has been spent painting with oils, recently she has expanded her repertoire to include graphite drawings. Commissioned to illustrate a book, she has completed more than 100 drawings for the author. "Letters From the Trail" has been published & is selling on line.
In addition to creating art from her home studio, Rainy has helped to organize and displayed in a number of art shows including the annual Historical Society Art Show in Searsport, ME, the annual Senior College Art Festival in Belfast, ME, and an annual two person exhibition in Searsport. Her work has also been exhibited in three local galleries, as well as local offices and restaurants. She also has shown some of her works at an interior design show room in Laconia, N.H., and the BRAF Gallery in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Her paintings have been sold through several locations in Maine and New Hampshire. She has also worked on private commissions for murals and framed art.
Rainy has been very involved with local fellow artists, recognizing the importance of learning from each other and gaining fresh perspectives as each grows in the pursuit of perfection.
